    The Contra Costa County School District has become the first in the state to implement an electronic tracking system for its students. Preschoolers in Richmond are now required to wear what resembles a basketball jersey that is implanted with a radio frequency transmitter.

    University of California Berkeley researchers have linked pesticide exposure in pregnant mothers to attention deficit disorders in their children.

    Published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, the study adds to a growing body of evidence showing how conventional pesticides adversely affect the human brain and condemns their use in conventional agriculture.

    If there ever was bipartisan common ground, you'd think it would exist safe from government data mining. In theory, it would seem that limited-government conservatives would oppose "Big Brother" just as much as liberal, civil libertarians. They probably do, but you wouldn't know it the way privacy-invading legislation is routinely passed with little debate on Capitol Hill.
